Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is the most frequently performed cosmetic dental procedure. The teeth become lighter and brighter without looking artificial. The technique we use is based on the custom-made tray system which is then loaded with the whitening gel – you apply this at home. The process is perfectly safe and causes no damage to the teeth. The product we use is Philips Zoom! NiteWhite or DayWhite home whitening. The gel is placed in custom made bleaching trays which are then worn at night (or during the day in the case of DayWhite) for a period of 2-3 weeks. This technique offers a deeper, longer lasting result than other in-surgery techniques and Tim Earl and his team have found this system to be the most effective. It has brightened many smiles in our practice, including all of the staff.

This technique does not damage the teeth and can be ‘topped up’ at a later date to refresh the look for a special occasion. Your initial kit will include everything needed to whiten your teeth successfully and also includes a spare syringe for a 6 month top-up. Extra syringes are also available at reception. We will record before and after shades for comparison and may take photos as required.

Please note: Existing fillings and crowns will not be affected by the teeth whitening procedure, and we may advise altering your existing fillings and/or crowns to match the new colour of your teeth. This will be explained and quoted for prior to starting treatment. Pre-existing internal markings on the teeth may become more noticeable as a result of the teeth whitening process and this can be rectified at a later date.

Whitening can also be carried out on individual teeth that have darkened, normally as a result of trauma or following root treatment. See below.
