The Lodge Dental Practice
Environmental Sustainability Policy 2025/2026

At The Lodge Dental Practice our practice team is committed to analysing the environmental impact of our practice, and.

  • Identify any areas for sustainability improvements.
  • Design and develop sustainability improvements within our practice.
  • Monitor, record and evaluate any sustainability improvements.

Our sustainability policy lead, Nicole Birt, is responsible for leading, implementing and monitoring the practice sustainability policy and all team members are required to comply with it. The policy will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis.

Sustainability guidelines for The Lodge Dental Practice.

The UK Climate Change Act 2008 impacts the whole of the UK, it sets out a challenge to reduce carbon emissions by 80% by 2050.

Sustainability is concerned with the sensible and responsible use of natural resources, to avoid depletion beyond the planet’s ability to regenerate/replenish itself. Maintaining this ecological balance often uses the reduce, reuse, recycle model.

Our practice team is using a variety of methods to increase awareness of the environmental impact of dental care amongst our staff and patients.

These include:

  • Developing this practice sustainability policy
  • Using online resources and educational posters to communicate the ‘green’ vision to patients and staff.
  • Consider the sustainable development principles in our work, Reduce, Recycle, Rethink and Recycle as documented in our Waste Management Policy.
  • Continuously measuring and evaluating sustainability improvements
  • Incorporating education on sustainability in staff induction and training processes
  • Calculating and disseminating information on the environmental (and financial) benefits of sustainable practice

All of the above are in line with the current confines of current health and safety legislation.
